PUBLIC NOTICE 

ACCESSIBILITY OF SARA TITLE III HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE INFORMATION 

Section 324 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act, also known as SARA Title III (Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986, PL99-499) requires public notice at least once annually informing the public of the means to access information about extremely hazardous substances that are manufactured, stored, and used within their community. Follow-up emergency notices may subsequently be issued. Accordingly, information concerning LEPC meetings, SARA Title III hazardous materials planning which is included in our Scott County Emergency Operations Response Plan, materials safety data sheets (MSDS/SDS), hazardous chemical inventory forms, listing extremely hazardous substances manufactured, stored, or used within Scott County can be obtained during normal business hours by contacting Scott County Emergency Management at 620-874-8547, or via email at ems@wbsnet.org.

11/30/19 - High Wind Warning Issued

A High Wind Warning has been issued from 9am-9pm on Saturday.  Use caution if traveling in or near high-profile vehicles, and avoid outdoor burning.

11/27/19 - Winter Weather Advisory Issued

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from midnight to noon on Thanksgiving. Light snow and freezing rain accumulations will likely cause hazardous travel conditions during the period.

11/25/19 - Winter Weather Advisory Issued

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for our area from midnight to 9:00pm Tuesday.  Minor snowfall accumulations along with strong and gusty winds will likely cause travel hazards. Make sure you're prepared before heading out the door in the morning.

10/29/19 - Winter Weather Advisory Issued

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 7:00pm this evening through 7:00pm Wednesday.

8/29/19 - Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 3:00am Friday. Ensure you have a way to receive warning information, and be prepared to take action if necessary.

8/24/19 - Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for southern Scott County until 9:30pm. Quarter size hail and 60mph winds are possible.

8/24/19 - Tornado Watch Issued

A Tornado Watch has been issued until midnight. Stay weather aware this evening, have a way to receive warning information, and be prepared to seek shelter if necessary.

8/24/19 - Flash Flood Watch Issued

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued through 7:00am Sunday morning. All modes of severe weather will be possible later today, including heavy rainfall.

8/23/19 - Flash Flood Watch Issued

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued from 7pm this evening through Saturday morning. Rainfall of 1-2 inches will be possible under the heaviest storms.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 10:00pm. Large hail, damaging winds, and an isolated tornado are possible with storm that do form. Ensure you have a way to receive warning information, and have a plan for seeking shelter if storms threaten your area.

6/8/19 - Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 3:00am. Ensure you have a way to receive warning information, and be prepared to seek shelter if necessary.

5/26/19 - Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for eastern Scott County until 11:30pm. Wind gusts to 70mph and nickle size hail are possible. Any reports of damage and/or hail would be appreciated.

A Tornado Watch has been issued until 1:00am.  Isolated tornadoes, hail to 2", and 70mph winds are possible.  Ensure you have a way to receive warning information, review your severe weather plans, and be prepared to seek shelter immediately is a warning is issued for your area.

4/21/19 - Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued

5:05pm - A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Scott County until 6:00pm. Wind gusts to 70mph and penny size hail are possible. Seek shelter indoors until the storms pass.

3/2/19 - Winter Storm Warning Issued

The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a Winter Storm Warning, including Scott County, from 6:00pm Saturday until Sunday at noon.

The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a Winter Storm Watch, which includes Scott County, from 6:00pm Saturday through 12:00pm Sunday.  Stay tuned to the latest forecast details by visiting www.weather.gov/ddc

2/5/19 - Winter Weather Advisory Issued

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 9:00pm tonight through 3:00pm on Wednesday.  Freezing fog and drizzle may create hazardous travel conditions.

1/6/19 - Trash Service Update

1/6 - 3:00pm - The dumpster at the Kingsley location has been overfilled, please use the fairgrounds location until a replacement arrives (hopefully tomorrow).

1/5/18 - Trash Service Update

1/5 - 12:45pm UPDATE - The full dumpster at the fairgrounds location has been replaced with an empty one. 

1/5 - 10:45am - Both dumpsters are FULL. Please do not deposit anymore trash until replacement dumpsters arrive. The fairgrounds location is scheduled for a replacement today, and the Kingsley location on Monday. PLEASE be patient, and don't be that person who keeps piling it on or next to the dumpsters.
